Blepharoplasty

As people age, the eyelid skin stretches, muscles weaken, and fat accumulates around the eyes, causing "bags" above and below the eyelashes. Blepharoplasty is a procedure to remove this fat usually along with excess skin and muscle. It can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below the eyes - features that make a person look older and tired. Blepharoplasty can be done alone, or in conjunction with other facial surgery procedures such as a facelift or eye brow lift An eyelid lift, also known as blepharoplasty, can improve the sad, tired, or angry look that can be caused by lack of sleep, environmental conditions, and the natural process of aging. Since the eyes are often one of the first things others notice about you, many people are very conscious of the effect that the eyes have on the entire facial appearance. Upper eyelids can develop excess, droopy skin which often cause the eye region to look crowded. This condition can create visual obstructions, and even make wearing mascara difficult. The cushioning fat pads around the eye start to sag or herniate forward, creating bulges that further crowd the upper eyelid. Upper blepharoplasty surgery removes excess skin, and repositions or removes bulging fatty tissue from the upper eyelid. The remaining skin is tightened for a smoother appearance.
